Abstract
El café representa un gran potencial económico a nivel mundial, lo que ha determinado la búsqueda constante del mejoramiento de sus rendimientos como cultivo. Para ello se han utilizado diversas técnicas, como es el caso de la propagación clonal (Fernández y col., 2010).
La utilización de los recursos genéticos del café se refiere en trabajos experimentales citados por Bragança et al. (2001) y Cena et al. (2002). En este sentido la propagación de esquejes de café es un medio rápido y eficiente para la conservación de las características genéticas y fenotípicas de plantas con alto valor productivo (Dublin, 1991).
