Evaluación de tres modalidades de renovación de plantaciones de cacao en Baracoa
Main Article Content
Abstract
In the property The Guayabo belonging to the Estación Experimental Agroforestal Baracoa, Guantánamo province, was carried out this experiment from the year 2004 until the year 2010 with the objective of evaluating a plantations renovation of cocoa modality that was agronomic and economic for the production of cocoa in Baracoa. On a Fluvisol soil with 8 % slope in Blocks at random design with three treatments and three replicates, the following treatments were executed: Total renovation, Renovation for fringes and Renovation Turrialba (witness). The temperature, the relative humidity and the precipitations were registered while the experiment lasted. To the cocoa was measured the diameter of the shaft every six months. For an intensive of the soil use and until the development of the shade plants allowed it, cultivations of short cycles settled down. A valuation of the revenues and expenses for treatments was carried out. The results were processed by means of variance analysis of simple classification. To the three years, from the agronomic point of view the treatments with better results were Renovation for Fringes and Total Renovation, without significant difference among them. From the economic point of view to the five years in the Renovation for Fringes treatment the biggest gain was obtained with a yield of cocoa in the fourth crop of 0.30 t/ha.
